The RESIST logo indicates my personal wish to see an end to the Police State and the continued erosion of the civil rights once the pride of British citizens. As the Labour government continue to increase their surveillance on British subjects through a raft of new legislation, we have to face the prospect of forever having the state pry into our private affairs. The latest example is the Labour government’s proposal to set up a database which will store the email’s, web browsing habits, text messages and mobile phone calls of every UK citizen under the guise of anti-terror legislation and fighting crime.
I do not believe it has anything to do with this and I strongly object to having the state interfere in my personal affairs. The government, not satisfied with 4.2m CCTV cameras, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology, tracking our every movement outside the home or work environment, now wish to cover everything else.
This Labour government has consistently trodden all over our civil liberties, yet our forefathers fought to keep this country and its citizens from tyranny, state control and dictatorships. We have, at the very least, a moral obligation to RESIST the attempts of any government to remove these long held right.
